I am looking for more information on the Zieske family. They came to the USA from Germany in 1893 on the ship Karlsruhe through the Baltimore port. Their destination was Iowa. They had to have relatives already in the states, but I can't seem to make the connection. I can't see them coming over here 'cold' and having their destination be Iowa without some kind of prior contacts.
The family constisted of Earnest (b. 27 Mar 1856), Amelia [Turner, or Turney] (b. 24 Aug 1867), Anna Amelia Wilhelmenie Zieske (b. abt. 1893), Arthur Ludwig Zieske (b. 15 Jan 1886), Fred Henry Zieske (b. 15 Feb 1889), Paul Martin Zieske (b. 06 Jun 1899), Charlie Martin Zieske (b. 19 Aug 1897), Bertha Zieske (b. 20 Aug 1892).

Anna m. Iver John Anderson (b. 13 Nov 1888 in Sweden)
Arthur m. Bessie Hamilton (b. 1888)
Fred m. Jessie D. (b. 14 May 1895 in Minnesota)
Paul never married that I know of.
Charlie m. Ella M. Hobbs (b. 25 Jan 1898 in Gladsdale, Iowa [have never heard of this town])
Bertha m. James Richard Abernathy (b. 04 May 1895)

I can go on and on with the other members of the family, but I'll wait for some information first.
